Got the Sat Nav Navigation Bug?
Have you caught the sat nav bug yet? Sure people complain all the time about being taken down a wrong route, a longer route or on occasions the boating route! But come on, where is our sense of adventure.
The best sat nav can be truly liberating. I’ve taken to going out for a drive without a care in the world. I’ll explore this road and that, try a new route, deliberately getting lost and all in the pursuit of finding a little gem tucked away that I had previously failed to unearth. And all this without ever turning on my sat nav unit.
Who cares about getting lost I positively encourage it and then, when you’ve finished your exploration turn on your trusty little friend punch in your destination and it will guide you safely back to your point of destination.
Trust me, when you haven’t a clue where you are you don’t worry about a slightly longer journey time or the odd missed turn it’s just great fun. It also beats the pants off stopping every 10 minutes to check your paper map or worse still juggling the map whilst driving the car.
Sat Nav isn’t perfect yet and probably never will be. At the end of the day it’s a driving assistant not the driver. If you think you know better just go with your gut. When you get there quicker it gives you a superior glow which is sad considering you only outwitted a machine!
So, chill out, recognize sat nav for what it is - a fantastic driving assistant that removes the fear of getting lost and will always get you to your point of destination (eventually).
